Split Words Puzzle, Castles

Can you find the paired words?

Short Description:

Split word games are good mental exercise, and as the clues are all there, you need to use some logic to put them together.
Pair the partial words in the grid to form longer words that have some relation to castles.

Directions for Caregivers:

If you are with a person who needs extra guidance to manage the word game, point out the first part of a word. Then together, try to match it with the other options verbally, one at a time, until you get to the one that sounds right.

Encourage as much active participation as possible. For example, rather than you crossing out words as you find them (even if they can’t write, they may be able to cross a word out), you can assist further by indicating it with your finger.

Add some reminiscing. For example, think of movies set around castles. What countries in the world have a lot of castles? Did you ever visit a castle?

Early-stage to mid-stage dementia

As a reminder, verbally repeat the theme, in this case, ‘castles,’ often to remind them of the type of word they are looking for.

If they need extra guidance to manage the word game, point out the first part of a word. Then together, try to match it with the other options verbally, one at a time, until you get to the one that sounds right.
