Share personal thoughts and memories. Some may feel uplifted and energized by sunshine, while others find it calming.
Safety in the Sun:
Reflect on the importance of sun safety. Talk about things to keep in mind for long periods in the sun, like hydration and avoiding the hottest part of the day.
Sun Protection Tips:
Name different ways to protect skin from the sun, like wearing sunscreen, hats, light clothing, or sitting in shaded areas.
Seasonal Changes:
Explore how sunshine feels different in each season. How do moods or daily routines change throughout the year with varying amounts of sunlight?
Songs About Sunshine:
Reminisce about familiar songs with “sunshine” in the title or lyrics. Can anyone remember a favorite tune, or would they like to sing a few lines?
Provide each participant with the journaling worksheet with quotes and a blank page on which to write about their experience and reflections on sunshine. Encourage them to describe moments they’ve enjoyed in the sun or how it makes them feel.
If participants feel comfortable, they can read their writing aloud. This is a wonderful opportunity to bond and share stories.
