One of our residents, we’ll call her Rosie, loved doing flower art projects. She has quite a pronounced shake in the hands which causes difficulty for her when she has to do precision work.
She decided to join our painting group and has a very natural flair for mixing colors into wonderful shades. Rosie wasn’t too happy with the way the paint went over the edges of the drawing when she painted due to her shake.
We came up with a solution and now she paints the components of a picture independently over a period of time, I cut them out for her and she assembles the picture from lots and lots of parts and glues them all on.
I love the background color she mixed for her ‘Flowers in Vase’ artwork, and we glued on a piece of oilcloth to make an authentic table cover. It was such a beautiful picture when finished so we got it framed and it now hangs in reception in the nursing home.
I think you’ll agree that it is a vibrant, happy piece of artwork!
