Lots of people like to draw and paint.
This coloring page is for people who may not be confident enough to draw their own images but still like to have a go at painting or coloring.
Supplies needed:
- Printed image
- Brush
- Paints (or coloring pens/markers)
- Water for cleaning brushes
How you might use this activity:
For Individuals (independent persons),
Or
Along with a caregiver / activity director for the following:
One-on-one activity, engage socially and paint together.
Group activity, this is a nice social activity for groups.
Early stage memory care / dementia, Supply materials, explain how to use/mix paints. Be on hand to offer support if needed.
Middle stage memory care / dementia, As above, offer more support if needed. If a person is reluctant to take part, leaving a brush and page in front of them can often lead to the person picking it up and engaging after a while of watching others paint.
Late stage memory care / dementia, use hand over hand assistance if needed. This is a nice activity as a passive observer if the person is not able for active participation.
This activity is suitable for both men and women.
Hint: Don’t forget to paint the background. It will really lift the look of the finished picture.
