Alphabet Word Game #1: General Topics
For Caregivers with Groups and Individuals.
Short Description:
Pick a letter of the alphabet and write down as many words as you can think of, starting with that letter in each category. As a filler activity, this is a great one; choose only one or two categories at a time.
Directions for Caregivers:
You can use this activity over and over again, choosing different starting letters each time.
You will always get new suggestions even if you choose the same letter again.
Mention the starting letter frequently to help focus the mind.
This is a good group activity.
Use a whiteboard and list one category at a time. Mention the starting letter frequently, or write it large on the board, to help focus the participant’s minds. Join in and give hints to answers if need be.
Early to middle-stage memory care/dementia.
Write the name of the category and the starting letter on a piece of paper as a visual aid.
Give hints and clues to the right answer; maybe give them the second and third letter also to trigger a response.
