Match Countries and Capital Cities

Around the World.

Short Description:

The printable worksheet shows a list of countries on the left. Draw lines to the capital city of each country.

Google, or find in an atlas, some of the countries and find the location of each capital as an added activity. You might pick one or two countries and find out some more about them.

Directions for Caregivers:

This matching game is a great one-on-one activity. You can expand it by finding information and fun facts about the different countries. What are their traditions, native foods, etc?

Give each participant a printed worksheet, and when they have filled them in, go through the correct answers.

Pick a country and have a group discussion about it. If you Google ‘fun facts about ….(the country), you will find lots of interesting trivia to bring to the group.

Early stage dementia

An atlas is a great prop to bring to this activity. Find the different countries and try to locate the capital cities. Get reminiscing. What places have you both visited in the world? Where is your favorite place?

About this Activity

Geography matching games are a great starting point for expanded activities.

Add reminiscing and trivia about the different countries and capitals. Maybe make one of the national dishes from one of the countries. You could draw and color flags, etc.
