Softness

Don't Push Against It

About this Activity

What if Everyone in the World Responded to Each Other with Softness?

Horses have taught me more than I could have ever imagined. Thus far, the most valuable lesson is the value of softness, and it relates to every part of my life. When my horse pushes into the reins when I am riding, and I react by pushing back, it seems like two fists are pushing against each other - not a lot gets accomplished. On the other hand, when my horse pushes against the reins, and I respond with soft hands and release tension in my body, the whole situation deflates immediately.

When there is nothing to push against, situations seem to deflate almost effortlessly.

Think about two people, in an argument, pushing against one another. Each person is reacting and stuck in the way they think things should be. While both sides may be valid, what gives? How will the situation ever be resolved?

What if you take the path of softness next time? Think about keeping your heart open and your body soft by releasing any tension, and just see what happens.
