Coloring – Fishes

Create an Underwater Landscape!

Supply List:

  • Printed image
  • Brush
  • Paints (or coloring pens/markers)
  • Water for cleaning brushes

Directions for Caregivers:

Print the page and paint together.

Have a chat about different types of fish. Did you ever have an aquarium? Do you like to eat fish? Which type is your favorite?

Painting is always a nice activity for small groups.

Do some reminiscing about different species of fish.

Early and middle-stage memory care/dementia.

Supply materials, explain how to use/mix paints. Be on hand to offer support if needed.

If a person is reluctant to take part, leaving a brush and page in front of them can often lead to the person picking it up and engaging after a while of watching others paint.

Reminisce about fish.

Late-stage memory care/dementia.

Use hand over hand assistance if this is possible.

Watching others paint is a nice activity as a passive observer if the person is not able to participate actively.

About this Activity

Hint: Don’t forget to paint the background.

It will really lift the look of the finished picture.
