Directions for Caregivers:
If the person has good general knowledge, ask the question first, wait a little while and if they can’t answer, only then give them the answer options.
Do some reminiscing about Christmas.
Group activity, if you have different abilities in the group always ask the participants not to answer until all the answer options are read out. That will give everyone a chance to give their opinion, not just the fast thinkers.
Quizzes don’t have to be competitive, the main objective is to have fun. But, if you want to be more serious about it, make teams of equal ability and have a Christmas quiz competition.
Early-stage memory care/dementia.
Stress that the Christmas quiz is not a competition, encourage guessing of the answer even if the participants don’t know it.
You can also just give two of the three options if you want to make it easier. The objective is inclusive, active participation where nobody feels silly for getting it wrong.
Do some reminiscing about Christmas.
