Solving crosswords is great brain exercise, good for passing the time of day and can also be a fun social activity. This one is quite easy and the answers all relate to words that go together. The number of letters in each answer is indicated after the clue.
How you might use this activity:
With Individuals (independent persons), Supply the printed crossword and pen and paper. Check back later to see how they got on. Good activity for assisted living, home care and residential facilities.
Along with a caregiver / activity director for the following:
One-on-one activity, solving crosswords can be a nice social activity. It encourages communication when puzzle solving together.
Group activity, as above, one on one with two seniors solving the crossword together. It will encourage communication between participants.
Early stage memory care / dementia, do the crossword together and give additional hints as is needed to come up with the solutions.
Middle stage memory care / dementia, do the crossword together and give additional hints as is needed to come up with the solutions.
The activity is suitable for both men and women.
